Brown Muir Wind Farm
This website has been set up to:
- Provide information about the Brown Muir wind farm proposal
- Introduce vento ludens as the developer
- Set out our proposed consultation activities programme
- Provide an opportunity for you to share your views with us
In June 2012, vento ludens submitted a Section 36 application to the Scottish Ministers for a 19 turbine wind farm of up to 57 Megawatts (MW) at Brown Muir, in Moray. In order to develop our Proposal, we carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as Pre-Application Consultation. The outcomes of these activities have been set out in the Environmental Statement and Pre-Application Consultation Report, both of which form part of the application.
The full submission including the Environmental Statement, Pre-Application Consultation Report and the Non-Technical Summary were made available to view at the Rothes and Elgin Public Libraries, as well as the Moray Council Offices in Elgin through 20th July 2012. Electronic copies of the documents can be downloaded here.
Statutory consultation responses (such as from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency) were received and the subsequent period of consultation that follows is now closed.
In December 2012, Moray Council’s Planning and Regulatory Services Committee voted to oppose the Brown Muir Wind Farm proposal.
vento ludens notes the Council’s right to object to the proposal, but is disappointed with the outcome. For more information, please see this news story.
Following the receipt of responses from statutory consultees, an Addendum to the Section 36 application was submitted to the Scottish Government in March 2013. Representations can be made to the Scottish Government until 3rd May 2013. Click here for more information.
The Scottish Government will now consider the application, all representations and responses from consultees before reaching a decision. Any updates as to the progress of the application will be posted on this website.
This website forms part of our on-going commitment to consulting with local residents, community organisations and local Community Councils. We intend to update the website as and when any news regarding the application becomes available.
