Brown Muir Wind Farm

Welcome to the website set up for the Brown Muir Windfarm proposal.

This website has been set up to:

  • Provide information about the Brown Muir wind farm proposal
  • Introduce vento ludens as the developer
  • Set out our proposed consultation activities programme
  • Provide an opportunity for you to share your views with us

In June 2012, vento ludens submitted a Section 36 application to the Scottish Ministers for a 19 turbine wind farm of up to 57 Megawatts (MW) at Brown Muir, in Moray, and a subsequent addendum was submitted in March 2013.  In August 2013, the decision to withdraw the Section 36 application was taken following a full and thorough review of the feedback received from the community and other stakeholders.

Following a review of feedback received in response to our original application, we have developed a new proposal for a wind farm of up to 12 turbines with a generating capacity of up to 36 MW on the Brown Muir site.

The full planning application for a 12-turbine wind farm at Brown Muir was submitted to The Moray Council in October 2014.  The proposal was informed by an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as Pre-Application Consultation.  The outcomes of these activities have been set out in the Environmental Statement and Pre-Application Consultation Report, both of which form part of the application.

Once the application has been validated, the Non-Technical Summary and Pre-Application Consultation Report can be downloaded from the downloads page of this website.  The full submission can be viewed in person at the Elgin Public Library and the Moray Council Offices in Elgin during normal business hours or via the Moray Council planning website  once the application has been validated.

This website forms part of our on-going commitment to consulting with local residents, community organisations and local Community Councils.  We intend to update the website as and when any news regarding the application becomes available.
